I had four primary emotions during my first-ever demo — at Prix de West, no less. First: I got this, no problem. Thirty-five minutes in: Oh crap, I’m never going to finish. One hour in: Who am I, and where are these words out of my mouth coming from? And finally, as the demo was concluding: I have no idea how I just finished this painting.

I would sincerely like to thank everyone who came to watch the demo. It really did mean a lot to me to have your support and interest. While the whole demo was recorded I started editing it and I am afraid it may take me forever to get it done. Please let me know if you are truly interested in seeing the demo produced into something actually watchable.

This photo from my Prix de West demo captures something I still can’t quite put into words — the sheer joy of being part of this event. My gratitude to everyone at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, its staff, and its supporters runs deeper than I know how to say. To show work in a venue like this, alongside artists of this caliber — it really is a dream of a lifetime. Many, many thank-yous to everyone who dropped a ballot this year. Still emotionally touched and reliving every moment — and already looking forward to Prix de West 2027. Can’t wait to see you there.

Many congrats and much gratitude to the team at Couse-Sharp for yet another perfect La Luz de Taos. I enjoyed every moment spent with collectors and friends and am once again overwhelmed by the generosity of those who cast ballots and contributed to the future of the Couse-Sharp Historic Site. I am absolutely looking forward to 2028, should the stars align and we gather once again for this wonderful event. @cousesharp

THIS SATURDAY - La Luz de Taos. I’m excited to once again be a part of this exciting event that happens to be in my own “backyard”. I’ll have one painting available titled “Stand of One” measuring 20x20 inches. The event is held in benefit of maintaining, restoring and educating the public about the origins of western art itself - The Couse Sharp Historic Site, home of the founders of the Taos Art Society. Artists associated with the movement include E. Irving Couse, Joseph Henry Sharp, Bert Geer Phillips, Ernest L. Blumenschein, Oscar E. Berninghaus, W. Herbert Dunton, Victor Higgins, Walter Ufer, and E. Martin Hennings — painters who came to the high desert of northern New Mexico and found in its light, landscape, and people an inexhaustible subject that would define an era of American art.
