On painting
The more I learn about how to paint, the more I find I need to forget about how to paint.

Friends, you are invited to celebrate Warren Fine Art’s anniversary with a reception featuring landscape paintings by yours truly. Please join me and many of the other talented artists at Warren Fine Art for hors d’ oeuvres, sparkling wine, door prizes and more in Old Town, Albuquerque this Friday, July 7th from 5pm to 8pm. I would love to see you there!

These paintings plus others stacked up and ready for delivery for the opening September 9 at Sara Smith Contemporary, Corrales, New Mexico.

Super happy and SUPER thankful to announce that my work is now being represented by Sara Smith Contemporary and there will an opening this September 9th.

“…two strong entries by Mr. Chavez. What strikes me with Sean’s work is his thoughtful attention to design. Great shapes and movement through out… “Nothing Gold Can Stay” moves ahead in this category for the subtle muted color harmony and solid use of values to emphasize the poetry of the tree.” – Kim Lordier, ArtMuse April, 2016. Special congrats as well to Damien Gonzales who was selected as finalist in the Masters category. That makes two Albuquerque painters who were honored in this competition that is open to anyone internationally.

Two of my paintings have been accepted into the standard fine art division in the 18th annual MasterWorks New Mexico art exhibition opening Friday, April 1st, 2016. This show combines the talents and experiences of fine arts organizations and artists throughout New Mexico, in order to showcase a selection of New Mexico’s finest art.
